Debunking Meitei Lies on the 3Three YouTube Channel owned by Meitei Chingtham, with the script read by an American youth

1. Regarding Meitei ST: Granting a community ST (Scheduled Tribe) status in India is solely dependent on the President, based on the recommendation of Parliament, not the High Court or State government. That is why the Supreme Court canceled the order given by the Manipur High Court and the state government (Meitei government) as unconstitutional, following the Milind vs. State of Maharashtra (2001) judgment. There are fundamental rights under the Constitution of India, where every citizen not only has the freedom of speech and expression but also the right to assemble peacefully without arms in public places to dissent against the government. The Manipur tribals feel that the majority community would exploit their land, culture, language, and rights if they were given ST status. So, are we protesting merely out of whims and fancies on this issue?

2. Regarding land disparity: It is true that the Imphal Valley consists of 10% of the total land in Manipur, whereas the other 90% lies in the hills. But it's false that the Meitei occupy only 10% of the land because a large population of Meitei people settle in Kuki hills but couldnโ€™t settle in Manipur Naga areas as they lack the courage to anger them. They took our kindness for granted and later became greedy, aiming to take over our land as we are marginalized and vulnerable tribals compared to the Manipur Nagas. Moreover, one crucial point is that the 10% of land where the Meitei reside is fertile compared to the 90% of the land in the hills, which consists of high terrain, mountains, and barren land. To help you understand, let me give the example of the US and Russiaโ€”the United States has fertile land, even though its land area is smaller compared to Russia, where half of the land is unusable and barren.

3. Regarding Kuki militants: The Kuki militants are under a Suspension of Operations (SoO) with the Central government and have no involvement in the Manipur crisis, even though their people were butchered, decapitated, thrashed, sexually assaulted, paraded naked, raped, tortured, and killed by Meitei terrorists such as UNLF, PLA, and other groups. The ones you call "Kuki militants" are village volunteers who have left their studies to guard their people from Meitei terrorists who are well-trained by the Chinese army. You can check the news; all the attacks happened within Kuki territory, not in the Imphal Valley, and the death toll is higher among the Kuki tribes. If the Meitei terrorists and radical groups stop attacking the Kuki tribals, there will be no retaliation from the Kuki side. That is why the Central government created buffer zones in the peripheral areas of the Imphal Valley, where Central forces are stationed to prevent Meitei terrorists from attacking us. The buffer zones are no different from the United States' construction of the wall on the US-Mexico border. Are you paranoid about that wall? Donโ€™t you feel safer?

4. Regarding illegal immigrants: According to the incumbent Chief Minister of Manipur, Mr. Biren Singh, who explicitly stated at the India Today Conclave 2018 that "there are no illegal immigrants in Manipur," your claims that numerous Kukis came from Myanmar are disproven. Additionally, if you check the latest census, there is no abnormal growth in the Kuki population in Manipur. Stop spreading disinformation to suit your interests. Talking about illegal immigrants, it should be the Meitei community that came from Bangladesh to Manipur in the thousands, selling off their properties in Bangladesh, as reported by Chronicle News Service (April 21, 2022). The Kukis have been in outer Manipur, in the Kuki hills, for eons, based on the stories passed down from our forefathers. Just because we donโ€™t have written history records, does that mean we have no history or are illegal immigrants? Is it right to say the Native Americans were illegal immigrants, refugees, or foreigners because they were discovered by Columbus? Is it right to say the tribes living in the middle of the Amazon forest didnโ€™t exist before people found out they existed? Before the British wrote our history, we were here, and our continued existence proves we are indigenous people. Try to grasp the simple logic I have presented here.

Even if we look at human migration, it started from East Africa (Homo rudolfensis) toward Europe and West Asia (Homo erectus), then toward East Asia (Homo erectus). The cognitive revolution began 70,000 years ago and marked the beginning of history when Homo sapiens spread out of Africa. Among all the early humans, Homo sapiens eventually conquered them all. Today, humans are Homo sapiensโ€”the wise man, not the dumb man. Saying that Kuki history began only when the British colonized India is absurd and illogical. If that were true, what would have happened to the Kuki people if the British had never come to India, particularly Northeast India? Would we not exist at all? Before the British drew maps and divided land, the Kuki people were largely settled in a particular territory, but today that territory is divided among three countries: the Chittagong Hill Tracts (Bangladesh), parts of India, and Myanmar. However, due to modern administration, the Kuki people have abided by the rules and regulations of their respective countries without thinking of annexing their original land. Since we are scattered across three countries, we have become minorities in each and have faced persecution and dehumanization.

That is why, in a democratic country like India, where there are minority rights and constitutional safeguards, we demand Kukiland under the provisions of the Indian Constitution, which would involve the internal reorganization of states in Manipur to protect our distinct culture, traditions, language, and way of life, which we call Khankhology.
