Whispers of Suffering: A Ballad from Manipur's Hills

In Manipur's hills, where the Kuki-Zo reside,
A tale unfolds, of suffering and pride.
Meitei in the valley, advanced and strong,
Yet shadows of injustice lingered so long.
In the land of Imphal, where progress gleams,
Meitei flourish in the valley's dreams.
But up in the hills, the Kuki-Zo weep,
As development promises slowly seep.
40 seats to Meitei, in power they stand,
While Kuki-Zo's voice echoes in the distant land.
Inequality festers, like a hidden fire,
Fueling a longing for justice to inspire.
Meitei's strides in education and more,
Leave the Kuki-Zo yearning for what's in store.
In Imphal's glow, where prosperity's found,
The hills remain in silence, without a sound.
Scheduled Tribe status, a contentious plea,
Meitei desire it, but what will it be?
To grasp tribal land, a coveted prize,
Leaving Kuki-Zo with tear-stained eyes.
Discrimination breeds a bitter seed,
Separate administration, the Kuki-Zo plead.
Neglected by governance, their cries unheard,
In the hills, where injustice has occurred.
Butchered, murdered, a tale of woe,
Kuki-Zo's anguish, a river's sorrowful flow.
Gangraped, paraded, atrocities untold,
In the hills, where humanity turns cold.
Babies burned alive, a heartbreaking scene,
Injustice reigning, relentless and mean.
Yet, amidst the darkness, a resilient plea,
For equality and justice to set them free.
In Manipur's story, a chapter untold,
Of struggles and pain, in hills and valleys unfold.
May compassion and empathy find their way,
To heal the wounds, and bring a brighter day.
