Humanity Lost: Meitei's Treatment of Kuki and the Ongoing Struggle for Peace in Manipur
~AstroMuon Kuki
Nazi Germany, led by Hitler, believed in its superiority, treating Jews as subhuman and leading to the deaths of millions in concentration camps. How could the German people have believed such propaganda? The Japanese couldn't wait any longer to attack Pearl Harbor, leading to the destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. If Japan hadn't attacked Pearl Harbor, the US might not have participated in the destruction of Japanese cities and might not have joined the war. It's worth considering why Hitler allied with Japan and Italy. The war might have been nipped in the bud if they knew the consequences. In the end, the one who tried to control Europe has returned to its original position, and the Imperial Japanese, attempting to show dominance over Asia, faced destruction.
In the Manipur violence, the Meitei treated the Kuki as subhuman, but such actions won't lead to achieving their demands. They won't exterminate all the Kuki, and their leader has brainwashed the majority of their people. Sending their sons to wage war against the Kuki resulted in many casualties. In the end, people will realize it's one man's goal, and it will be too late to come back to their senses. At this moment, it's already too late, and now the Kuki, despite not attacking, face continuous assaults, not only in Kuki villages but also against other tribes. Who would stop this war now?
The government of India won't stop this violence immediately. They will not take sides in this civil war, but one thing is clear: they will stop the war, but in the long process. The government of India used to take a non-alignment strategy to deal with two nations at war, as seen in the Ukraine-Russia war, Israel-Hamas War, and Korea war. The Delhi government didn't take sides in those wars. Now it appears that even in her internal conflict, they won't take sides but try to maintain neutrality. This is not enough. If the government really wanted to stop this civil war, they would have already nipped it in the bud. This is not rocket science for the central government. Why didn't they stop the war till this moment?Let me conclude this write-up on a beacon of hope.
After the oppressed Jews gained independence following World War II, likewise, I placed my hope in the central government of India, believing that there would be good news for the Kuki people as well.
